Crave (Book 1) by Tracy Wolff
Let me start with the fact that I am an avid Twilight lover. When the books originally came out I waited for all of them to be released, purchased them, and then read them cover to cover until they were done. Period. The end. As it stands, I have the hard back books, I have them on Kindle, and I have them on Audible. I read and/or listen to them about once a year and this doesn’t include my marathon movie sessions whenever I get the urge. Don’t judge. I have an affinity for vampires (hello Vampire Diaries…but I digress).

So, I really put off starting this series for good reasons. I. Love. Twilight.
Do you want to know what finally got me? Well, I’m going to tell you anyway. I’m a freaking sucker for books with kick ass page textures. I saw the books at Books-a-Million and fell in love with the pages. Yup, that’s it. Swoon. I went direct to Amazon and placed my order.
So, I got this book from Amazon. Book release date April 7, 2020.
It’s listed as Crave (Crave, 1) by Tracy Wolff.
Twilight Parallels
This book was a fun read. I will admit that I found myself mentally noting Twilight parallels that annoyed me at first.
To List a few:
- Like the plot taking place in Denali, hello the Cullen’s cousins lived in Denali.
- Then there was the talk about civil twilight.
- Grace talking about Jaxon’s crooked smile. I mean come on. Edward invented the crooked smile.
- Grace calling herself a “fragile” human. Again, Twilight. James references it being cruel that Edward left Bella a fragile human that couldn’t protect herself.
- Grace saying that at least there is no moat around the school. Another Twilight parallel to Bella going to the Cullen house the first time.
I think one think that did win me over was that Jaxon actually gave Grace a copy of the Twilight Book. For real, I did find it funny.
Moving on past the Twilight parallels.
“There’s something about him that calls to me on a soul-deep level, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.”

Characters
I was pleased that the paranormals in this book were a bit different than what I was use to. Yes, they were still angsty teenagers. Yes, it’s still the shy girl torn between the two hot guys. Come on. It’s a YA fiction novel.
At least this teenage girl is more than meets the eye! And the other paranormals are a whole lot of fun too. There are plenty of twists and turns especially at the end. It kept me turning the page and making sure I had book 2 lined up before I finished book 1.
My Thoughts
Overall, I think it’s worth reading. If you are an avid Twilight lover like me. Take a deep breath and try to tune out some of the unoriginality in the beginning. Once you get passed that, I think you will enjoy the story line. If you are really on the fence, go borrow a copy from the library. If you are a Kindle Unlimited member you can also borrow a copy there. I’m not even gonna lie, I went back and forth between the hard back and the Kindle version for convenience.
